Pattern recognition and creating frameworks are my jam, so here’s what I’ve found.
There are four ways to read this blog.
1. Entertainment
This is why I wrote it.
Tell me when you laugh, when you cry, when you’re shocked, when you say out loud “what the actual fuck?!” Tell me if there’s a word or a line or a post that stayed with you way after you read it.
Read it like your favorite memoir, thriller, or even poet.
2. Voyeurism
I don’t actually think anyone is lurking to try to watch a scandal, but it’s worth mentioning:
This is not a diary, a journal, a confessional, or a gossip mill.
By the time I share something, it’s been weeks and I’m over it. It’s old news to me. There is no need to reassure the characters on the page. They're just characters. Plus I am an extremely generous narrator and tend to make everyone look more favorable than you might see them in real life.
Meaning: everything I share is true, but it is very far from the full truth. This is art, not disclosure.
3. Learning
Whether someone wants to learn about modern adventures in medicine from someone who notices way too much, or wants to see how someone stays relatively peaceful and even-keeled without repression… while under physical duress, while going through things worse than the physical pain…
There’s a lot you can learn if you know where to look.
4. Secret
There is a fourth way of reading this.
But the person who reads it this way won’t need it spelled out, and the person who needs it spelled out won’t read it this way.
But, I would be delighted to see it.
My suggestion? Go with Entertainment. Let me entertain you.
Now, back to the actual story.
